Hisa Tsutsui

Professor of Mathematics,

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Prescott, AZ

"Laura M. Lee possesses the qualities that are most valued in a student seeking to further her education and level of experience. She has intangible qualities that set her apart from the typical high achieving students. She is a stand-out individual who is caring, intuitive, and dedicated in her pursuits."

- Hisa Tsitsui, Ph.D

"I first met Laura during Spring 2018 semester when she was enrolled in my Linear Algebra class. She earned an A for the course, and was among the top 5% of the class. I enjoyed having Laura as my student since her interest seemed to be in understanding the subject matter rather than aiming only towards obtaining a certain grade. I sensed her high desire to understand concepts: not just for the purpose of answering a particular question but her efforts seemed to be geared towards developing an arsenal of mathematical tools to sharpen her problem-solving skills."

Brian Rachford

Associate Physics Professor,

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Prescott, AZ

"Laura has been a student in 4 of my classes: two semesters of introductory Astronomy, Astrophysics, and Techniques of Observational Astronomy. She has a keen interest in the subjects and has performed well in those classes, particularly in Techniques. This latter point is consistent with her excellent performance in other “hands-on” and/or project-based courses, such as introductory Physics labs and Computational Physics."

"Laura has been a Student Assistant at our campus observatory for more than a year. During this time, she has primarily been working on assembling and testing a commercial fiber-fed echelle spectrograph that will be used with the 16” telescope at our observatory. In addition, she has helped with upgrades on our all-sky meteor camera system (a node of the NASA/SETI CAMS program), which consists of 16 low-light video cameras. Consistent with her performance in lab-based courses, she has been very good at working with this equipment and has been able to do a lot of the work independently without needing as much
guidance as other students. She has also been very reliable in this position."
